Super Mario Party (Switch) Review

A Super Star Shindig

Mario Party is one of those series that most gamers have played at least once, whether as the host of Mario’s minigame shenanigans or as an unwilling participant to an all-night 50-turn board game. Once a yearly franchise, the series hasn’t seen a console release since Mario Party 9 and 10 controversially changed key gameplay mechanics. That is, until now, with the Nintendo Switch release of Super Mario Party, which restores the core experience, alongside a handful of new modes.

Drawful 2 Review

Extreme Pictionary

The first Drawful had a simple concept: players draw a picture, and others guess what it is. Drawful 2 takes the original’s basic premise and makes small, but effective, improvements to the addictive formula. The result is a fun party game, though it is limited depending on your group size.

Super Ping Pong Trick Shot (Switch) Review

Digital Beer Pong

Super Ping Pong Trick Shot is not your average ping pong game. In fact, it has nothing to do with table tennis. It shares more similarities with the frat party pastime beer pong…except without the drinks.

ARMS (Switch) Review

Nintendo’s Next Hit?

The 3D fighting game ARMS marks Nintendo’s first new major property since the team-based third-person shooter Splatoon. Both games serve as examples of genres that the Big N hasn’t dabbled with much until now. In ARMS’ case, Nintendo has given nearly a dozen colorful fighters stretchy arms. Jackbox Party Pack 3 (PS4) Review

What’s in the Box?

Jackbox Party Pack 3 keeps the party going with a new set of five multiplayer games: Quiplash 2, Trivia Murder Party, Guesspionage, Fakin’ It, and Tee K.O. While the selection is diverse, there are a few duds that won’t appeal to most groups and are unlikely to sustain a party’s attention. Each game requires players to use a phone or tablet to answer questions or draw pictures, and anyone with an internet-ready device can play along, whether a party guest or online stream viewer. Most games support up to eight players, and an audience of up to 10,000 people can join in too. The humor can get raunchy, but censoring options allows groups to cater to younger players.
