Box Meets Girl

Against all odds, Kirby series developer HAL Laboratory and Nintendo’s hero has finally returned – yes, good old BoxBoy. It’s hard to blame anyone for not being familiar with BoxBoy!, which spawned a trilogy of 3DS games and even an amiibo figurine. Although the last game’s title was Bye-Bye BoxBoy!, the creators saw fit to continue the series with BoxBoy! + BoxGirl! on the Nintendo Switch, which also marks the franchise’s debut on consoles.

Kirby Star Allies (Switch) Review

A Kirby Potluck

At last, the mainline Kirby series has finally returned to consoles. Kirby Star Allies revolves around befriending enemies and utilizing their powers, a concept that originated in the SNES classic Kirby Super Star. The game also borrows elements from other titles, such as ability combinations from Kirby 64 and 4-player co-op from Kirby’s Return to Dreamland. Although the core experience feels identical to its counterparts, its potluck mechanics complement each other effectively, bringing out the best in Kirby and his friends.

Bye-Bye BoxBoy! (3DS) Review

So Long, Farewell

The time has come to bid farewell to our beloved BoxBoy. You’d be forgiven if you didn’t know there was a BoxBoy to say bye-bye to. After all, his first two games arrived on the Nintendo 3DS eShop with little fanfare. Developed by HAL Laboratories of Kirby fame, Bye-Bye BoxBoy! marks the finale of this 2D puzzle platformer’s trilogy and is just as enjoyable as its predecessors.
