A Castlevania Tribute

I’ve been on a Castlevania itch lately. Between trying to main the Belmonts in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and watching my wife play through Metroidvanias like Symphony of the Night for the first time, I’ve been eager to do some demon slaying. Brazilian indie developer JoyMasher has effectively scratched my itch with Odallus: The Dark Call, a retro platformer inspired by Castlevania III.

Everyone is Here!

What better word is there than “ultimate” to describe a massive video game crossover that includes every single character and then some from the long-running Super Smash Bros. series? It’s hard to imagine that we have a franchise where so many iconic gaming characters duke it out. Here we are with Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, a game that celebrates Nintendo and other major video game publishers that have brought joy to many people around the world.

Forma.8 (Switch) Review

Metroidvania with Balls

Forma.8 plays out like a 2D Metroid game, if Samus were forced to travel as a floating morph ball the entire time. The developers at MixedBag Games have created a visually stunning world that begs to be explored. Truth be told, if moving around didn’t feel like a chore at times, I would have investigated every nook and cranny.
