About

Hello! I’m Alex (“Mr. Panda”), and I’m a lifelong fan of Nintendo.  Having started playing video games at a very young age, I have since collected every major Nintendo console and handheld.  My favorite series include Mario, Zelda, Pokemon, Smash Bros, Final Fantasy, and Ace Attorney.  My wife and I even had a video game themed wedding, which featured centerpieces based on Smash Bros. trophies before amiibo was even announced!

My other major passion is anime, especially titles with action, suspense, and humor.  My background is in teaching, and I aim to use my skills of informing and writing to deliver Nintendo articles to you.  I loves to share my opinions of games and want to help you make informed decisions.

    1. Thanks! It was definitely one of the best days of my life! I enjoyed planning for it. We had a lot of talented gamer friends help us with it. We had Smash trophy centerpieces, orchestral mash-ups of video game and classical music, a strategy guide guestbook, and a Hyrule Castle cake! We even had ? Block/Power-Up invitations and 3DS save-the-dates! Everyone loved how fun it was! Thanks for bringing it up! :). And of course, thanks for approving of my favorite series! We did our wedding entrance dances to those series too, haha!

  1. Heya, Mr Panda! Just wanted to tell you that I nominated lovable you for the Liebster Award (Red Mage Edition *wink*)! Not sure that you’ve done this yet, but you can check it out. Great for networking. You’re an inspiration with getting your blog up and running at such a speed and size by being active on other blogs as much as you have been. It’s incredible when you think about it. Keep it up, you’ll out-pace all of us!

  2. The instant I saw Final Fantasy was one of your favorites I followed. That’s all I need! All of my wedding music was from that illustrious series, and…well, I won’t clutter your About comments with the extent of my Final Fantasy obsession. Suffice it to say it’s lifelong and I’m currently embroiled a great Final Fantasy play/replay review/analyze project. Found you through the Well-Red Mages Liebster nomination as I was nominee, too!

    1. Awesome! Thank you very much! That’s awesome that you had Final Fantasy music at your wedding! We also had some at our wedding including the Prelude for the prelude (clever, right?), Main Theme as our recessional, and Victory Fanfare during our reception entrance dances. We also sprinkled some other pieces during our reception. Video game weddings make for great weddings! I’d be very interested in your Final Fantasy project! I love discussion about Final Fantasy. I will definitely be checking you out as a fellow nominee. Thanks for your comment!

      1. The party walked in to Aeris’s Theme; I was the Prelude and we walked out to the ubiquitous ending theme! When the party was introduced it was the Chocobo Song from FFVIII. I think we used the Victory fanfare, too, but…I was quite toasted so my memory is fuzzy hehe.

Thank you! I’m in the midst of FFIV right now. It’s a labor of love to write them and can take several days. I studied English for my masters and love looking at all narratives through the lens of academia/analysis and FF is rife with such opportunities; it’s so well written. The defense of Sephiroth I penned last August took me several weeks, but anything that has to do with Final Fantasy is more than worth it! So happy I found your blog. The Well-Red Mage is bringing bloggers together 🙂

      2. Aww, that sounds so wonderful! Great choices, I approve. I love the stories, and they are indeed worthy of discussion and analysis. I’ll be sure to check it out, and I look forward to see what you do with FFIV!

I’m glad to have met you through the Well-Red Mage as well! And I’m grateful to the Well-Red Mage for reaching out and being an all-around stand-out person!
