Panda’s Picks: 10 Anticipated Switch Games

Joy-Cons to the World!

The time has come! The Nintendo Switch will finally launch this Friday, and gamers worldwide will soon play with their shiny new console/handheld hybrid. I’ve already detailed why I’m excited for the Switch as well as my impressions from Nintendo’s January presentation. Now I’m turning my attention to the most important part of any console: the games. Here are my top 10 most anticipated Switch games!

10. Arms

Arms.jpg
Ouch. That’s gotta hurt.

I wasn’t initially keen on Nintendo’s upcoming motion controlled fighting game, Arms. But the more I learned about it, the more I wanted the game in my… arms. This game may look like Wii Boxing, but the characters’ arms extend to hit their opponents, similarly to Mr. Fantastic. Consequently, it’s more reliant on solid punches rather than frantic arm-waving. Although I’m not the biggest fan of motion control, I’m interested in seeing how the Joy-Cons’ improved gyro affect Arms’ gameplay. I’m also intrigued by the controller’s HD Rumble functionality, which allows for sensations within the Joy-Con.

9. Runner3

The Nindies Showcase announced a hefty lineup of indie games launching this year for the Switch. Among those, one title that caught my eye was Choice Provision’s Switch-exclusive Runner3. The first two autorunner games were the best parts of the Bit.Trip series, and I enjoyed them more than Super Mario Run. Funnily enough, the voice of Mario, Charles Martinet, contributed his vocal talent to the second entry. Nevertheless, Runner3 will surpass those on the graphical level with its incredible dynamic camera angles and jaw-dropping artstyles. Runner3 looks to be a visual tour de force, and I’m looking forward to hopping to the beat with Commander Video soon.

8. Splatoon 2

Splatoon 2.jpg
Stay fresh!

I enjoyed the ink-splatting turf wars of Wii U’s Splatoon, but I didn’t get the GamePad’s motion controls. Though that was the way to play, I felt they were unresponsive and instead played with the analog controls. Splatoon 2 promises better gyro aiming thanks to its upgraded Joy-Con and Pro Controllers, and that has built up my desire to play the sequel. If Nintendo can deliver lots of fresh content, then I’m on board to being a squid again! I mean, being a kid again?

7. Super Bomberman R

Super Bomberman R.jpg
I love the art for this game!

My hype for Super Bomberman R may be mistaken for mere excitement that the adorable bomb-dropping mascot is alive. But I’m sincerely excited for classic 8-player bomb battles and a cooperative 2-player story mode. I’ve never played the series online, so I’m also looking forward to the mayhem that will ensue. It will be a blast (pun intended) to play when it launches this Friday.

6. Yooka-Laylee

I grew up in the heyday of Rare’s 3D collectathon platformers like Banjo-Kazooie and Donkey Kong 64. The talented creators of these classic games have opened a new studio to bring that experience back to the forefront. The team at Playtonic Games have been hard at work on Yooka-Laylee since 2015, and the finished product will be joining the Switch’s ever-growing lineup in April. As a huge fan of the genre, I wasn’t sure that we’d ever see the return of the classic 3D collectathon. But here we are, mere weeks away from experiencing the misadventures of a chameleon and bat pair as they collect pagies throughout open sandbox worlds. In typical Rare fashion, the game will include trademark googly eyes and mine cart levels. I’d be excited for Yooka-Laylee regardless of platform, but now that it has a Switch release, I know how I’ll be playing it!

5. Snipperclips: Cut it Out, Together!

What is Snipperclips anyway? It’s as hard to explain both what it is and why I’m excited for it. The Treehouse Live video does a great job showing where the potential fun lies, so that would be a great start. Essentially, it’s a cooperative game in which each player uses a Joy-Con to control a cartoonish bullet-shaped creature with legs. If one player stands directly in front of the other, he can clip off a segment of his partner, completely altering his shape. For instance, you can erase your partner’s bullet-shaped tip to create a scooper, which you’ll need to pick up a basketball.

It’s something that we haven’t seen before, and that breath of originality is what we need in this era of sequels and remakes. Working together with a friend to accomplish goals like sharpening a pencil is bound to cause limitless hilarious outcomes. Combined with the charmingly silly faces, this game will likely be a riot at get-togethers. We don’t have to wait long for it either, since Nintendo is releasing Snipperclips at launch this Friday! Snip!

4. Xenoblade Chronicles 2

Xenoblade Chronicles 2.jpg
I’m really feeling it!

Monolith Soft’s Xenoblade Chronicles X was one of my favorite games on Wii U. Its hybrid turn-based action battle system easily won my RPG-loving heart. However, it didn’t have the heartfelt character-driven story of the first Xenoblade Chronicles. Xenoblade Chronicles 2 will be a sequel to that original game. We don’t know too much beyond the initial reveal trailer. But if the other games in the series are any indication, we will be treated to a gorgeous world where if you can see it, you can reach it. Hopefully, the Switch’s more powerful hardware will allow XBC2 to live up to the lofty standards that the humongous predecessors have set. The release is currently scheduled for 2017, but I wouldn’t be surprised if the developers needed more time to create this expansive RPG. Either way, I’m ready to set dozens of hours into it when it launches.

3. Fire Emblem Warriors

Fire Emblem has been gaining so much traction these past few years, thanks to the success of Fire Emblem Awakening and Fire Emblem Fates. In fact, a FE-focused Nintendo Direct revealed an upcoming mainline title for Switch. But I’m currently more excited about the forthcoming Fire Emblem Warriors, the spinoff that combines the hack-and-slash gameplay of Koei Tecmo’s Dynasty Warriors with the likable characters and wartorn countries of Fire Emblem. The FE series had a previous Wii U crossover with Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE, but Fire Emblem Warriors is poised to service the fans more with direct references to the franchise proper. My wife and I enjoyed playing Hyrule Warriors together because of its fun gameplay and nods to the beloved series. Now that she’s suddenly become a huge FE fan thanks to Fire Emblem Heroes, we will be sure to enjoy Warriors when it ships later this year.

2. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

Zelda Breath of the Wild.jpg
Breathtaking

I’ve written quite a bit about The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild ever since its unveiling from E3 2016. There’s so much more I could say about this exciting open-world title that takes the series to its humble adventurous roots. Of course, the game is more than humble, promising a massive continent to explore and hundreds of puzzle-filled shrines. BotW offers unique tools and a gigantic playground to experiment on. But I’m most excited about having my own personalized journey through this new land. Based on the freedom within the first area alone, no two playthroughs will be identical. Much like the first Legend of Zelda, BotW will allow you to explore at your leisure, letting your curiosity be your guide. And that’s exactly all I could have asked for from the newest entry in the Zelda series. I’ll be looking forward to diving into this long-awaited epic this Friday!

1. Super Mario Odyssey

Super Mario Odyssey.jpg
I hope Mario catches his hat.

Let me preface this by saying that I am a huge fan of Super Mario 64, so much that I’ve been playing it profusely to prepare for an upcoming passion project. The Super Mario Odyssey reveal trailer showed us that the game will be a return to form; it’ll hearken back to the large 3D sandbox worlds of SM64 and Super Mario Sunshine, and that has me thrilled to bits! Although Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario 3D World were stellar games in their own right, they were distinctly more linear than their Nintendo 64 and GameCube predecessors. After Sunshine, I’ve been yearning for a new Mario experience where I could traverse a huge hub, jump into new worlds, and hunt for stars hidden across the map. Based on what we know so far, Super Mario Odyssey looks like it will replicate that nostalgic experience. The theme of the game is literally “jumping to an unknown world.” Coupled with dazzling visuals, strikingly juxtaposed areas, and new mechanics emphasizing Mario’s iconic cap, Super Mario Odyssey has the potential to be a game that defines the Switch. And that’s why it narrowly edges out Breath of the Wild as my most anticipated game.

nintendo-switch
Switch it up soon!

Conclusion

There are more games that I’m looking forward to, but but these are my ten most anticipated titles. I’m pleasantly surprised by how much depth the Switch’s first year will have, from the most beloved Nintendo franchises to an armful of new IPs. We’re truly entering a new age of Nintendo consoles, and I hope that the company delivers an experience surpassing the Wii U’s. We’ll see once the Switch finally launches on March 3!

What are your most anticipated Switch games? Will you be getting the Switch at launch? What games would you like to see most on the console/handheld hybrid? Please share your thoughts in the comments section below! Thanks for reading!

    1. I thought you might approve of that! I can’t wait for Super Mario Odyssey. All I want to do is see more of the game. I hope that it ends up being the system seller we want it to be.

  1. Great list of games! I can’t believe the Switch release is only 2 days away! As a Zelda fan, I’m super excited for Breath of the Wild. It’s gonna be a beautiful game and I look forward to exploring the huge open world. I recently got into Fire Emblem, so FE Warriors is a close second for me. Love the picture of Chrom (he’s my FE waifu). I had a lot of fun playing Hyrule Warriors and enjoyed all the bonus DLC characters. Koei Tecmo has done some good work. I’m curious about Snipper Clips, seems like a quirky 2-player game with promise. But most of all I’m pumped to be playing on a brand new Nintendo console 48 hours from now!

    1. Thanks a lot! I can’t wait to explore epic games like Breath of the Wild, cathartic games like Fire Emblem Warriors, and quirky ones like Snipperclips. They’ll make for great multiplayer experiences even if BotW may just be a lot of watching, haha. Wow, 48 hours! It’s happening soon!

  2. No, this time I won’t be buying on day one. First, I want to see s game on the Switch game that would get my blood pumping. Like a new Animal Crossing game. One of the games I look forward too is Stardew Valley, but only because I don’t own any of the other consoles that it appeared on.

    Liked by 2 people

    1. That’s definitely fair. I think an Animal Crossing game would be perfect for the system, considering that the Switch is like a console and a handheld. We’d finally get that HD Animal Crossing game, and we’d get to take it on the go as well! Win-win! Given Animal Crossing’s popularity and the fact that it’s one of Nintendo’s upcoming mobile games, I think that they just have to bring a brand new installment onto the Switch. It just makes too much sense for them not to!

I’m excited for Stardew Valley as well, though it’s also because I haven’t already played it on PC. I Am Setsuna was also another game that I considered putting it on my list, but I could have played that on other systems before now too, haha. For me, the new Zelda and Mario look amazing enough to sell me on the system, so I’m pretty hyped. I hope they bring a variety of franchises over! Thanks for your awesome comments!

  3. Great list! Personally, Splatoon 2 would be much higher on my list. I agree that the motion controls weren’t great in the first one, but using analog sticks didn’t hurt my enjoyment of it.

The only game that I would put on the list that you didn’t include would be War Groove. I’ve been dying for a new Advance Wars game, and War Groove looks like it’ll fill that void nicely.

    Liked by 1 person

    1. Thank you so much! And that’s awesome, Splatoon 2 is bound to be what fans want in a sequel. My favorite part of Splatoon was actually the single-player mode, which seems odd. But between the Super Mario Galaxy-like gameplay and the awesome final boss, I wanted to see more of that. If we definitely had a single-player mode for the sequel, then it would jump several places in the ranking for me. Regardless, I think the controls and multiplayer can only get better if they play it right with the Switch release!

Actually, War Groove looked very interesting from the Nindies Showcase! I’m more of a Fire Emblem fan than Advance Wars (I think it’s the setting), so the new FE game would have probably ranked higher for me. But I do think that War Groove will fill that void that Intelligent Systems isn’t. Maybe they might be inspired to work on Advance Wars if this goes well. Though FE is such a hot commodity nowadays that I’m not even sure that they remember the series anymore, which would be sad. Thanks again for your awesome comments!

  5. Those are certainly some games to look forward to! I’m not sure whether I’m going to get a Switch right after it launches or wait for some more games to come out, but I’m sure the new Zelda and the new Mario are going to be great.

    1. Thank you! That is certainly a smart decision. After all, with any launch, you can’t expect too much on the first day. We’re lucky that a game as anticipated as Breath of the Wild will be there first day, even if it’s also technically available on Wii U. By Christmas, assuming games like Super Mario Odyssey and Xenoblade Chronicles 2 ship on time, I believe that the Switch will have a really good lineup. If they can keep up that momentum with solid prospective 2018 games, then the Switch has the opportunity to outdo the Wii U. Thanks for the read and comments!

  6. SWITCH in LESS than two days!! Sorry, I’m excited and this awesome post added to my hype level (I’m still more excited to find out what your project is though 🙂 ). I’ll likely be lost in Zelda for a while, but Fire Emblems Warriors (I loved Hyrule Warriors too!), and Super Mario Odyssey are looking like my next games after that.

    1. Yay Switch! I’m so excited too, if you couldn’t tell, haha! Zelda, Fire Emblem Warriors, and Super Mario Odyssey all in the first year will be an amazing combo. And I’m also happy to have a shiny, new console at home!

Also, I’m so happy that you’re excited about my project! I’ve been working on it a lot these past few weeks. Hopefully, it will come to fruition this month. Though with Switch and BotW possibly consuming my next several weeks, I apologize if it gets postponed to April. Regardless, I cannot wait to show you what I have in store! 🙂

      2. Aw thank you so much! I appreciate your kind words! I want to make it the best it can be, though I recognize that it doesn’t need to be perfect. Regardless, thank you for your support and excitement! It fuels my own twofold! 😀

For now, let’s enjoy our new additions to our video game console families! 🙂

    1. I’m so happy that Monolith Soft is making a second (or third?) Xenoblade Chronicles. I’m not certain what else they do besides helping out with Nintendo’s main games, so it makes sense for them to continue making what people love from them. Of course, I’d love for them to return to the card-based Baiten Kaitos RPG one day too. They probably won’t…

But yes, I think it’s surprising that I’m excited more for Mario too, but part of it is because Super Mario Odyssey will finally redeliver the nostalgic experience I’ve been waiting for, while Breath of the Wild is trying something new which I’m not yet sure how it will be. I mean, judging by what we know about BotW already, I am certain that it will be great. But when I look at Mario running around New Donk City, I already see my childhood coming back to me. With Zelda so close, I’m sure the hype will elevate as soon as I start playing it! Can’t wait! Thanks again for reading and sharing your thoughts!

    1. Yes! I admit that I doubted the lineup back in January, but it’s really shaping up to be a solid launch. The Nindies Showcase in particular revealed a hefty amount of great games in development exclusively for Switch! And then of course, Nintendo is hitting hard with Mario, Zelda, Fire Emblem, Splatoon, and who knows what else it has coming up. I’d love to know what your anticipated games are too, so I’m going to pretend that I’m not going to see your list (and then secretly see it). 😉 I look forward to it!

      1. This is why you’re a Godsend. I just watched the Nindies Showcase because you mentioned it. I remember saying last year that I hope the Switch puts unprecedented emphasis on indie titles. And I got my wish. Haha!

      2. Aw you’re so sweet Well-Red! The Nindies Showcase was excellent both in presentation and content. The Switch may not have the largest number of AAA retail titles launching this year, but there will be plenty of indie games to go around! I’m excited to try a bunch of new titles myself! Glad you got your wish! And thanks so much for the kind words! 🙂

  7. Nice to see Xenoblade on your list !!
I loved the first Xenoblade and Xenoblade Chronicles X (my best game on the wiiu)
We’re not gonna buy the switch on launch, but we’re deffenitley gonna get it later!

    1. Thank you! Xenoblade is an amazing series, and I’m glad that Monolith Soft is continuing it on Nintendo’s newest system. It will be fun to play both in console and handheld mode. Hope you enjoy the Switch and Xenoblade Chronicles 2 whenever you pick it up! Thanks again for reading and leaving a comment!

  8. I have to admit that I’m surprised Zelda isn’t number one! I feel like it’s everyone’s number one, lol. But I’m wicked excited for Mario Odyssey as well. I feel like we haven’t had a new Mario game in a long time (other than Mario Maker, but that’s not really a “typical” Mario game).
I wasn’t able to pre-order the Switch, so I’m hoping to get my hands on it the moment it gets back in stock. I know I’m going to be so jealous of half the world come March 3, lol.

    1. Yea, haha. I feel like it’s like comparing apples and oranges. Of course I’m super excited for both, but I’m currently more hyped for what I know will bring me the nostalgia from childhood. We surely haven’t had a new Mario game in a while, but specifically a new 3D Mario in the vein of Super Mario 64 or Super Mario Sunshine. Odyssey looks like it will take me back. Breath of the Wild will take me to completely new places, and I’m super excited for that prospect too!

Aw, sorry you weren’t able to preorder the Switch. I hope that you find it at the perfect time, and that you can enjoy it when you do! Luckily, BotW will be on Wii U as well, though there’s definitely a strong argument to play it on the nicer system eventually as well.

      1. I know what you mean! I think I’m just excited to have a whole list of brand new games. Often times Kris and I get the urge to play something and we can’t agree on a game because we “have no games” even though we have a ton.
I will be checking Amazon like crazy come Friday. I want it so bad!

        Liked by 1 person

      2. Haha, I get that feeling too though. There are games in my backlog that I could play, but it feels “inferior” compared to trying something new, even though I know in my heart that’s not the case. Nevertheless, Breath of the Wild is getting such rave coverage that I can’t just ignore what could possibly be one of the best games in one of my favorite series! I sincerely hope that you can find a Switch. Let me know if you do or don’t, and I can see if I can help!

      3. The main thing that stinks is that we try to avoid spoilers and such. A lot of the YouTube channels we watch all got Switch consoles from Nintendo as gifts and they’re already posting 1-2 Switch and unboxings and things.
        Thank you. 🙂

        Liked by 1 person

      4. Right, I’m also trying to avoid spoilers and have succeeded for the most part. I know some parts about the game that are not really spoilery, and most reviews I’ve been reading (most of which gave Zelda glowing praise) have thankfully spoiler-free. I haven’t seen people’s playthroughs beyond Nintendo’s E3 coverage last year so I’m pretty in the dark besides general gameplay elements, which typically don’t consider spoilers. I’ve also been checking out a lot of 1, 2 Switch stuff too out of curiosity.

        Like

      5. Same. Most people are being careful about not getting into the spoilery stuff, but after a week or two the spoilers are going to be everywhere, lol.
Kris and I watched a stream of 1-2 Switch gameplay. I was iffy on the game and was debating about whether to get it or not because it seems weird, but interesting. After seeing the gameplay I think it would be a lot of fun, especially if you have a lot of people to play with. But I may wait until the price goes down. There are other games I want more.

        Liked by 1 person

      6. Same here. There might be fun parts about 1, 2 Switch, but it would have served better as a pack-in title as opposed to an almost fully priced retail game. It just doesn’t look like a game that I’ll play more than once. It doesn’t seem like it has that lasting power that Wii Sports had, and this is coming from someone who wasn’t a huge fan of Wii Sports!

        Like

      7. Agreed! It looks like a good glorified tech demo, though what interests me most is the HD Rumble. Hopefully, Nintendo opts to pack it in later in the system’s life.

    1. Yup! Yooka-Laylee is a title that has caught my eye for a while, so I was so pleased to find out that it would be coming to the Switch! It would be so right to play through a 3D collectathon platformer on a Nintendo system. And thank you! Merry Switchmas Eve to you too! One more day!

  10. Bomberman seems to getting a bit of a revival at the moment. Apparently there is also a Bomber Girl in the works. Hopefully the games are as good as the SNES titles I loved back in the day. Bomberman single player isn’t normally great, but it is a “blast” on multiplayer.

    Liked by 1 person

    1. I hope so too, because I want Bomberman to return as a gaming icon. So far, it looks like the game will deliver the same fun that the SNES titles brought, though I was also wishing they’d do something special for this new version. Regardless, I hope that Switch Bomberman and even Bombergirl do well for Konami so they can continue to refine and evolve the franchise past its 33rd anniversary. Maybe we can even see him in a new Smash Bros. game someday!

      Liked by 1 person

  11. I mentioned it on the Book of Faces, but Bomberman game looks like a blast 😀 I haven’t played one of those in years, and it’s making me want to boot up my husband’s computer and hop on the emulator of the original game or 2. Such a simple concept and such an awesome game. I can’t wait to see what the Switch does with it. Obviously Breath of the Wild is on everyone’s dance card, and I keep forgetting about Mario Odyssey! I may be asking for a Switch for my (late April) birthday. I’m sure I’m far too late to pre-order, and I know how difficult it is to find any new Nintendo system in store. I can wait though!

    Liked by 1 person

    1. Yes, thank you for mentioning it El Libro de La Cara! Bomberman is going to be a blast to play, even though I’m expecting it to be what we’ve seen before. I’m just so happy that Bomberman has lived long enough to celebrate 33 years. *sheds tear* All the original Bomberman games are great too, and I started with two of the least orthodox Bomberman games: Bomberman 64, which featured height and Bomberman Hero, a single-player adventure game where Bomberman could jump. So if I can love Bomberman after all that, then I think the general public will enjoy his recent offering, haha.

Happy Early Birthday! I wish I could get you a Switch for your birthday! I hope that it’s not impossible to find tomorrow. I mean, I have a preorder that’s finally shipping, but I want others who didn’t preorder to have the opportunity to play as well! I expect Breath of the Wild to be nothing short of breathtaking, and I just can’t wait to get lost in Mario Odyssey later this year! Hope everything works out for you if you plan to get it for your birthday! And thanks again! 😀

      1. Lasting 33 years is quite a feat! I have so many consoles on my wish list right now. I could buy a PS3 with 500GB for $180, and then I could say I have my own, but my husband says he could just replace the laser for $25. It would be nice to have a new one (or my own), but I could save my money to get a Vita or 2/3DS. I have to have some way of playing the games that are piling onto my backlog, and now that the Switch will be out as of tomorrow, that’s even more D:

        Liked by 1 person

      2. That’s quite the list of consoles! I didn’t know you could just replace the lasers. A new system launch is always an exciting event. And the consoles and handhelds that are almost ready to retire are also ripe at this time. 3DS is a great system that has tons of games now that it’s been available for nearly 6 years. I don’t have a Vita (I have a PS TV, which is similar), so I can’t speak for those games, but I can safely say I’ve spent many hundred hours enjoying my 3DS! If Switch can replace my handhelds, I’d be impressed, and also happy that I don’t have to buy a separate portable system!

        Liked by 1 person

      3. My husband is very handy with things like that. He used to work for the EB Games warehouse so he has a bit of an inside insight to these things. I’m sure it would violate the warranty if the system still had one, but it’s pretty old at this point.

I know…I have quite a punch I need to pick up. I check Amazon pretty often to see if I can find some decent deals, but I’m wary about buying a used one, because you never know what you might get and/or what problems you’ll inherit.

I was looking at the 2DS because I don’t really need 3D to be happy, but I don’t like that the 2D doesn’t fold up/close like the 3DS (or even regular DS).

        Liked by 1 person

      4. The 2DS would be good if it folded. I’ve played on one before, and it’s pretty sturdy. But its lack of a hinge makes it more difficult to bring around. It’s sort of like with the Switch. I wish that it had a hinge, though at least it’s flat like a tablet, so it can easily fit in most bags, as long as I protect it. It does look nice though, and I can’t wait for the next opportunity to use it as my new portable, haha!

  12. I’m looking forward to playing Breath of the Wild, Splatoon 2, and well, whatever else is a major IP from Nintendo. When will you be getting a Nintendo Switch?

    1. Thank you for sharing! Those are shaping up to be excellent titles, especially Breath of the Wild, which is getting such glowing recommendations. I will be getting my Switch tomorrow, possibly sooner! It’s definitely happening any time now! Thanks again for checking out my article!

  13. I won’t be getting a Switch on Day One. Besides Breath of the Wild, there’s not much I’m really pumped for at launch and I’ve Horizon, Mass Effect and Persona 5 to tide me over the next few months. (I suspect that I might not have that much game time in the coming months too.) But I do want to get my hands on one eventually, especially if the Pokemon rumors are true! Pokemon needs to be on a powerful console already!! Haha.

    1. Ah yes, this has been quite the week of high-scoring game releases! I really hope a mainline Pokemon release makes it onto Switch soon. Like, beyond a 3rd version of Sun and Moon, I hope the next generation finds its home on Switch. If Switch is truly out next handheld, then that’s its obvious next stop! And I’d love for a powerful console full game of Pokemon too!

As much as a fanboy I am for Nintendo and the fact that I, too, grew up in the hey-day of open-world platformers, I still think I’m most excited for Xenoblade 2, although that could be that I recently completed Xenoblade Chronicles 3D for the first time and it was such an incredible experience.

Banjo Kazooie remains in my top 5 games of all time even after all these years, so naturally the spirtual successor is what I’m most looking forward to. Although as I’m a physical game collector, I’ll wait for a physical copy 🙂

Side note – very intrigued by Runner3. Runner2 is actually being released physically by LimitedRunGames (who might actually be handling Yookah-Laylee’s physical release..) on PS4/PSVita this Friday. Wondering if an auto-runner is worth the price of admission ($30 incl. shipping)…

    1. Ah Xenoblade 2! Excellent choice! I’ll have to admit that I’m only halfway through Xenoblade Chronicles 3D (which was also my first time playing through it). I will definitely have to beat it before the sequel comes out. That doesn’t stop me from being excited for 2 though! I loved XBCX. Now that I think about it, I’m glad that game wasn’t as related, since I actually beat that before beating the original. Hah!

Banjo-Kazooie is an amazing game. The team at Rare was a powerhouse back in the day. And I’m glad it’s that same team working on Yooka-Laylee. Wouldn’t have it any other way. I hope to get a Switch physical release. I would love that.

Runner 2 was awesome. I didn’t know that here was going to be a physical release, so that’s also great news! Interesting that it costs $30 physical, but I’m sure that’s just the cost of making it a boxed copy. I don’t believe I paid that much for the digital. I can safely say that Runner 2 is my favorite auto-runner, though I can’t speak to whether it’s worth $30 or not. Either way, hope you enjoy it if you get it!

      1. I never played Xenoblade Chronicles X but it looked incredible. I probably won’t ever own a WiiU unfortunately so it’ll have to wait, but apparently it’s not really related to the story anyway (and as you just confirmed 🙂 so I don’t miss it like I would miss a sequel to the original.

      2. Xenoblade Chronicles X is an excellent open-world RPG, and I think it would make a great Switch port if Monolith Soft ever decided to do it! A Xenoblade Chronicles Trilogy on Switch would be even more amazing!

    1. Thank you! The Switch has fun games ahead of it, so I’m glad it piqued your interest. Yooka-Laylee looks like it will be awesome, so I definitely would have picked it up regardless of system. I’m just happy that it will be on the system I want to play it on too.

  16. Sorry to break the comment number of 64. Please forgive me! I guess I’m late to the party but even though it’s out already, Yooka-Laylee would be my most anticipated game, followed by Zelda, and then Mario probably. I guess I’m pretty predictable. I’d like to see plenty more happen, like a console Pokemon entry, another 2D Metroid, more Smash Bros… I mean there’s tons. But as far as what I heard was confirmed those were my top 3. Now you’ll need to do a follow-up on this once they are all out to see if they lived up to your expectations.
